š¹ļø Is Dacia Duster A Good Car
Emphasis on Renault ownership because Dacia Duster used to be the UK-specific nameplate of the ARO 10, an off-road vehicle that shared a few bits and pieces with the Dacia 1300. Gifted with black
The Dacia Duster is an unexpected hit. A small family SUV, the Duster was launched in the UK during 2012. You can now pick up early models for between Ā£2,500 and Ā£4,000. But our reader is looking to spend around Ā£12,000. The good news is the Duster is so cheap, that amount will buy one thatās between two and three years old.
The Dacia Duster is available in three trim levelsāthe Essential, the Comfort, and the Prestige. Now that the Access trim is no longer offered, the Essential is the base car selling for around Ā£14,000. However, it is not unusual for Duster fans to choose the higher specs when they buy.
Dacia has adapted parent company Renaultās E-Tech hybrid powertrain to good effect already on the Jogger, a version of the same system also available on the new Duster. Though not a plug-in it pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric drive motor for improved efficiency, the car pulling away on electric power and bringing the petrol
The Dacia Duster Commercial is effectively a factory-conversion of the standard car, which means the rear seats have been replaced with a 1.4 metre cargo deck that will carry up to 550kg. Admittedly, it's no match for a standard pick-up - most will carry at least one-tonne - while the larger Mitsubishi Outlander is better with 705kg.

Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey has confirmed Dacia is on track for a local launch in 2025 with Bigster and next-gen Duster to wear Renault diamonds locally. But itās unlikely that lower-end Dacias will succeed in Oz, owing to trade agreements with China keeping prices for price-driven rivals such as Haval, MG, and Chery low.
The Duster I drove had a 38-litre LPG tank plus a petrol tank of 50 litres, which Dacia says gives a minimum combined range of 635 miles of which 240 miles was down to the LPG.
The Dacia Sandero is one of our favourite small hatchbacks. Itās still among the UKās most affordable new cars but it doesnāt scrimp on space, practicality, comfort, efficiency or even standard features. The Sandero Stepway is all of that, sprinkled with some SUV-alike styling cues and a raised ride height.
Good visibility means the Dacia is easy to drive, and navigating out of the car park and back to the main roads was no problem. Despite its humble roots, or perhaps because of them, the Duster is
Which brings us quite cheerfully to the Dacia Duster, which can be yours, complete with the most desired features on a modern car, but not much else, for £13,995, or about £160 a month on the
Duster has the best benefit-cost ratio out of any 4x4 sold - only the Lada Niva is cheaper and that's not really a fair competition considering it's the same car it was in 1976. And while Suzuki Ignis offers comparable price, it's way smaller and useless offroad, while Duster has earned reputation of offroad beast.
